| | Becoming a specialist in a country or functional topic takes years to master and few are given a roadmap on how to do it. Taught by a top Yemen and Gulf specialist who has two decades experience as a political analyst in the US and abroad, this course will teach students the skill sets necessary to get up to speed on a topic quickly and to ultimately become an expert. In an apprentice-style format, students will choose a speciality then learn how to collect knowledge, detect logical fallacies and bias, interview people on the ground and experts, assess credibility, organize their thinking, formulate and write analysis, brief decisionmakers, give a media interview, and self-edit. The course seeks to make students more objective, accurate, confident, and informative in their research, analysis, writing, and briefing. |
