 Course requirements Field work: field observations, to be carried out in Charlottesville and environs, will be a key component of the class. Attendance: more than two unexcused absences over the course of the semester will drop your grade by one letter, and three will fail you. Preparation: do the assigned reading, field work, and check the class email after 6 p.m. the night before class for any announcements or postings from the instructor. Assignments and exams: 20% class participation, including email responses to readings 20% three field observation reports 20% close reading of landscape image 20% team project 20% final exam
