| | This course allows for--indeed, requires--the writing of a 25-page paper, on some topic related to a specific field of historical research, to "historical thinking," to the relations between history and other disciplines, and so on. I can get a good sense of the suitability of the class for a particular student, and of possible topics on which the student might write, in the wake of a conversation in my office.
