| In a democracy, the government acts with the consent and on behalf of its citizens. When it comes to national security and intelligence activities, however, decision making and operations often take place in secret. This one-credit seminar will examine the mechanisms of oversight and transparency that seek to ensure that the government operates consistent with the law and the will of the people, focusing on the role of the press in the national security context. |
